Begin Again

It's been just over six months since we met Thumblini at the edge of Siberia. Not much has happened since then.

Just kidding.

We're all U.S. citizens now. Some of us grew more hair (some lost more). The flowers are out, spring has sprung, we have lost some family members (human and otherwise), and Aila's molars have begun to break through. Soon she'll be chewing the fat with her parents.

Why a new blog? Good question. We've settled in and found our gravity, and now we want to express that in a new (non-anonymous) blog. Life today is nothing like we thought it would be when we set up the other blog. We're different now, and we think the new blog will be a space where we can reflect that more.

Welcome.

Oh! - and here are some pictures underscoring the core of our last six months.

The day we met, 11/16/07 (9 1/2 months old):

Today, 5/24/08 (15 3/4 months old):

LOOK AT HER! Wow! What a difference. Absolutely unbelieveable. She just needed a little mommy & daddy elixir to wipe that worry off of her face.

So glad to see your new blog and a new post. I missed you guys!

So sorry for your losses - truly.

All my best,
Angela

Are you sure that's the same little girl? Wow, it certainly looks like America agrees with her. She's absolutely gorgeous. I'm sure my Garrett would be giving her the goo-goo eyes.

Glad to see you you're continuing the blog--you guys are such great writers.

Wow!!! Look what love, attention, affection, and food can do to a little one!! What a sweetheart!

I'm so glad to see you posting.

I recognize the clothing - BabyStyle (I bought some dresses like that). Comfy!

I will now note your new blog address. I'm glad it's no longer anonymous because it was hard not to write any of your names sometimes.

Great update,

OMG she is wearing the same outfit that Mieke was wearing when I first met her in Semey! Too funny. I notice that all the time in other Semey family's blogs - that the clothes the kids have on look so familiar.

Wow, don't they change so much so fast? She's gorgeous. I hope to meet her and they two of you at a Semey reunion soon.

Those pictures are such an amazing contrast. I love how just plain joyful she is now!

I'm so sorry for all of your losses, and can see how a fresh blog start can be a good idea.

You are coming to Kazapalooza, right? We would love to meet you and get the munchkins together again.

I'm happy to see a new post, though I can certainly understand why there haven't been many updates lately. I look forward to seeing what this chapter of life holds for you guys. If the expression on your beautiful daughter's face is any indication, it must be good. The changes are amazing!

Much love,
Jen
