Happy Update
The past week has been very exciting in our household.
Our sweet Aila has started, in a very real way, talking!
At 19 months, she is saying "bye-bye!" and "night-night" and "ice" and "purple" - it is the most adorable thing in the world!
But this is the best: Today, she called out to Marshall when he was walking out the door to leave. She called, loudly, "daddy!?!" to stop him from leaving! She has been saying dada a lot, but not directly to him.
Today, there was NO question! He could barely get himself to leave - both of us melted on the spot.
Then, only about an hour and a half later, I was upstairs working and Aila was playing with her babysitter, when, all of a sudden, I heard her call out "Mama?!!" - well, I almost fell out of my chair! I ran down to her and grabbed her and hugged that little girl! I felt like I had just won the lottery!
What an honor it is to be a witness to such magnificent, miraculous growth in our beautiful child. And what joy it brings us both to hear her call out to each of us.
Wow. The love we have for this little girl is mind-boggling.
Just had to share.

What a great day! Let me know when she calls out "Augie." I think that's bound to be the next word, no?
oh!! it melts my heart too and i don't even know her!! :) how very very exciting! there's nothing better, besides MAYBE their hugs and kisses. i can't wait until maia says mama!! hopefully it won't be too much longer. enjoy these moments, they are so awesome!! :)
To witness it first hand is such a gift. And now think how long you've waited and prayed to hear those very precious words, "mama" and "daddy" makes it even that much more mind boggling.
Wonderful update Jennifer! Very happy for you--you have a beautiful family.
aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh..... how precious... she's so sweet..
That is incredibly heart warming. I am so happy that you are able to witness these wonderful days with Aila. How truly amazing!! Soon she will be talking a mile a minute :)

How special! A day you'll never forget. It IS amazing how they start talking so suddenly. I remember when my girlfriend's daughter started - I hadn't seen them in a month or so and she wasn't talking before that. When I saw her I commented on her pretty purple pj's and she looked at me and said "pur-ple" plain as day. I was shocked - it was like the cat just spoke to me! So I guess I'll be equally shocked when Miras does it. It's also good to know that it will happen eventually. I get a little disheartened when I go to daycare and the other kids his age or younger are saying Mommy, Daddy, bye bye, etc. I shouldn't be too worried as he IS communicating and has had challenges that the other kids haven't had... and every kid has their own time table!
awww Jenn...I am so excited for you!! that is totally the best!!
Heart melting want to squeeze her to pieces BEST!
I'm so happy for her and her happy proud parents.
Such a huge blessing!
It's getting harder and harder to say bye bye to Leeza....she cries when i put her in the crib...breaks my heart!
I love her so much now i want to squeeze her and never let go...I cannot imagine what i'lll do when i hear a MOMMY out of her!
Thanks for sharing...I can feel your smiles thru the miles...
and i was kinda sad because i was so enamoured wtih my daugther's new trick of "kissing" that i SAT on my camera, yes, big fat mom sat on the camera and broke it.
I'm not that sad about it anymore cuz of your sweet joy over your pretty blonde munchkin.
So good to catch up with you. Just reading your posts makes me grin...and tear up! What a sweet day - mama and daddy in the same day!?! The sparkle in her eyes makes my heart melt.
Your family is ever on our minds.
With joy,
Shannon
p.s. loved reading about your anniversary - we also celebrated our 9th this August - another cool thing in common! :)
thank you for sharing your happiness with us, its wonderful to hear when our kids call us mamma and daddy for the first time. Its such a joy, and Aila is is so beautiful....
Aw, what a great story, thanks for sharing that with us!
She is just cute as a button, and one day soon you'll probably wish she would stop talking, for just one minute ;-)

Oh how sweet. Just reading this made me tear up.
Oh yes, I remember the day I was addressed as mama for the first time! What joy! And even now when he says mamamamamamamama it still makes me smile!
Those are the moments that are better than diamonds and all the money in the world. That's what I always say! Truly the best!!!
How funny that one of her words is ice! I guess it is appropriate that Aila says ice and lives in RI and Rylie says "hot" non stop and lives in AZ. :-)
I would melt too! I'm so glad you shared this. Brought a smile to my face.
Eileen
Isn't it just amazing! To hear your child say Momma is the best gift ever. Thank you for sharing. :) They are truly little blessings, or little miracles, either way, they are amazing!
